Bayou Fitness Dumbell Bench

I recently got my hands on a unique dumbell bench from Bayou Fitness. It's unlike any other design I've come across in my equipment travels so far, so I thought I would give it a full run through and report my findings here.

What appears to be a small standard dumbell bench is actually any but. I wasn't really expecting to like this bench to be honest, I mean what's there to get excited about a dumbell bench? Here's what I found out...

The first thing that stood out about the Bayou bench was the thick padding and heavy duty upholstery. Most weight benches in this price range have 1/2" padding at best, and light weight vinyl that has a tendency to split and crack if used regularly.

The next surprise is that this bench also adjusts to numerous stop angles, the three most useful positions being upright (as shown in the picture above), flat and also preacher (preacher position is good for bicep curls) as shown in the pictures below...

The dumbell bench in the flat position is just large enough to support your back and head if you position your body right and should fit most users (I fit on it and I'm almost 6'-2" tall).

In the preacher position as shown above, you can get a great bicep workout by supporting one arm on the pad and bracing your body then cranking out bicep curls with complete isolation of the muscles...

The last feature on this bench that's noteworthy is the integrated Bayou dumbell rack supports. There's one support on each leg of the back frame that you can attach their 5-25 pound or 10-50 pound adjustable dumbells to (click here for my Bayou Adjustable Dumbell Review). When not in use, the arms swing under the bench out of the way.
