Parabody Smith Machine

The Parabody Smith System is hard to beat for the money. It's one of the higher end smiths that's on par with the Body Solid and Hoist models.

I'm going to voice a gripe right up about the Parabody Smith, the fact is that you can only buy it through dealers in your local area, so that will keep the prices up and make it harder to get a good deal like you can on the Body Solid Series 7.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Parabody Smith Machine. In fact I have the Parabody in my home gym and have logged many enjoyable hours on it.

The reason I bought the Parabody over the Hoist and Body Solid is two fold - number one, the Parabody is relatively affordable when compared to other linear bearing smith machines (linear bearings are 10 times better than bushings) and number two, the design of the Parabody smith is ideal with its 7 degree carriage design and its front mounted gun rack with safety catches.

The Parabody is a 7 degree smith machine that is highly versatile with a integrated 200 pound lat tower weight stack with high and low pulleys, 6 built-in Olympic weight holders, and a 14 point gun rack and safety catch on the front on the machine.

With a smith machine like this, you don't have to make a compromise when it comes to strength training, as you have the best of both worlds in one machine. Here's a picture of my Parabody smith machine from my home gym...

lat bar and Hoist short straight bar attachments

The Parabody has many features that I really like, the only downside is the machine comes with pretty basic non-swiveling bar attachments that will need to be changed out with either a good steel swivel bar, or you can do like me and call Hoist and beg them to sell you their attachments!

Like the Hoist Smith machine, the only downside to the Parabody Smith Machine is the price, and the fact that it's only available through local dealers.

a good alternative to the Parabody Smith System is the Body Solid 7 Series which you can read about here
