The new Bodycraft Jones machine is a totally self contained smith system with a twist.
It's similar technology that's found in the Hoist PTS smith machine and the original Max Rack 3 D smith machine.
The advantage of the Jones machine as compared to a traditional smith machine, is its' not locked into a vertical, static plane of motion. That means you can perform any free weight exercise in a natural motion and aren't as prone to injury.
The Jones machine has built guide rods that allow simultaneous horizontal and vertical planes of motion with a built-in 15 degree pivoting latch system, so you can rack the weight at any time during an exercise.
Another cool feature built into the Jones, is the pop pin locks which once engaged, turn the Jones machine into a traditional Smith machine!
If there's a downside to the Jones machine, it's the lack of a gun rack. If you plan on doing any type of free weight exercises that don't involve the interior space of the rack, you're out of luck in that department.
The basic Jones machine comes standard with the rack and built-in Olympic bar, and options include either a plate loaded lat stack or the better 200 pound selectorized tower and you'll need to supply you own weight bench and weights.
The Jones machine is a nice smith machine and would make a good centerpiece to any home gym for the more serious weight trainer.
