Exercise Ball Size Chart
Question
How do I know which exercise ball size is right for me?
Answer
Good question, sorry I didn't include an exercise ball size chart on my ab machine recommendation page, I'll get that posted on there right away.
Exercise ball sizing is pretty simple. They come in 10 cm increments from 45 cm to 75 cm (and no I don't know why they're measured in Metric). Regardless, here are the exercise ball size recommendations based on user height:
- 45 cm exercise ball - Users under 5'-0" tall
- 55 cm exercise ball - Users under 5'-8" tall
- 65 cm exercise ball - Users under 6'-2" tall
- 75 cm exercise ball - Users over 6'-3" tall
Here are two more key points to getting the right sized exercise ball:
1. You'll notice that there isn't a weight restriction on any size ball because the only exercise ball I use and recommend is the Duraball that can handle loads up to 2200 lbs. and has a 1000 lb. burst-proof rating.
2. If you're on the borderline of moving up to the larger size based on your height get the larger ball. For example if you're 5'-9" tall get a 65 cm ball as opposed to a 55 cm ball. We have the 65 cm Duraball at home that my wife and I both use and my wife uses with clients. We keep it just a little bit under-inflated and it's worked great for users from 5'-4" to 6'-4".
